About Us
Is ISE right for you?
A choice to study at the ISE will pay many future dividends in your professional life, and you will pick up many highly valued skills that are demanded by employers in every sector of the economy. That being said, completing all of the requirements to earn a degree in Economics & Management or Banking & Finance will not be easy.
The ISE programme differs greatly from the typical university programmes available in Kazakhstan. We expect you to read extensively on your own and develop your own arguments, to think and reflect critically and independently, to ask questions, to engage in discussions with other students and your professors and to understand ‘the causes of things'. Your main key to success will be your motivation; your willingness to study hard and your ambition to invest in your future career.
As a student, you will benefit greatly at the ISE from the small class size. Even as we are growing, we are engaged in a worldwide search for highly qualified academic professionals and will continue to maintain a very favourable professor to student ratio, to make sure you get all the personal attention you need.
As a student at ISE, you will attend coaching sessions and tutorials focused on creating a dialogue between you as a student and your professors. In addition, once per year, you will have an official consultation with the dean, who will give you feedback and advice on your progress.
The ISE has an open door policy and you can consult the ISE staff (the dean and his team) whenever you want. So for students who are willing to work hard and develop excellent study habits, no other programme in the country rivals the ISE in terms of the future payoffs it can bring.

A Message to Parents
Give Your Son or Daughter A World-Class Education - In Kazakhstan
As a parent, you no doubt want the very best for your son or daughter, to ensure that you provide every opportunity possible to maximise their choices and opportunities throughout their professional lives. An education that can provide this for your children is absolutely priceless. At the same time, the costs for a European or especially, a US education can be astronomical. For some people who take out loans, this could mean years of debt.
The ISE is designed to be an elite, high-quality programme. Your son or daughter will be challenged as a student, and will develop themselves tremendously as a person and a professional. They will develop strong study and critical thinking skills. They will learn to communicate effectively and construct arguments, along with the self-confidence sufficient to deliver them. They will also obtain an extensive knowledge in their chosen specialty. Yet, by taking a look at our fee schedule, you can see that an education at the KBTU/University of London is a mere fraction of the price of sending your son or daughter abroad, especially if you take into account airfare and accommodation. At the same time of course, you will keep your son or daughter right where you want them - close to you.
KBTU has made a tremendous investment of time and money in order to ensure that your son or daughter receives a quality education while enrolled in the ISE. Through the academic linkages we have established, the lead college of the University of London - the London School of Economics and Social Sciences (LSE) sends professors every few weeks to Almaty on teaching visits to increase the global perspective of the programme, supplement courses and conduct quality monitoring.
LSE has appointed two members of the ISE Academic Committee who help to oversee acedmic quality, appoint professors who teach in the programme and take part in teaching visits. Professors at the ISE are responsible for reporting to this committee on teaching, research and curriculum issues. The University of London and its college - the LSE are some of the top educational institutions in the entire world, and takes seriously maintaining any programme associated with its name. When your son or daughter enrolls in the ISE, she/he will truly take part in a programme guaranteed to adhere to international educational standards
